This journey through Himachal Pradesh is a relaxed exploration of some of the region’s most scenic and less-crowded Himalayan destinations. The trip begins with a drive from Chandigarh to the peaceful river valley of Mandi, before continuing to the charming mountain village of Shoja, nestled amidst forests near the Great Himalayan National Park. Here, enjoy beautiful hikes to alpine meadows, sacred lakes, and pristine forests.
The journey then takes you deeper into the Himalayas to the stunning Baspa Valley in Kinnaur, with a stay in Sangla surrounded by apple orchards and dramatic mountain landscapes. Excursions include visits to the picturesque villages of Chitkul, Rakcham, and Batseri, along with breathtaking views of the Kinner Kailash range.
From Sangla, travel to the orchard-clad hills of Thanedar near Narkanda, known for its tranquil setting, forest walks, and spectacular viewpoints such as Hatu Peak. The final leg of the trip brings you to the serene cedar forests of Naldehra near Shimla, where you can enjoy gentle walks, scenic drives, and visits to nearby mountain villages.

Itinerary Schedule
Upon arrival at Chandigarh Airport, proceed by road to the scenic Mandi region in Himachal Pradesh. The drive takes you through beautiful mountain landscapes along the Beas River. On arrival, check in to your hotel located at an elevated setting near Pandoh, offering lovely views of the river and surrounding hills. The evening is at leisure to relax and soak in the tranquil atmosphere.
Stay: Premium Room at SPT Clarks Inn Suites or similar
After a leisurely breakfast, drive towards the picturesque Seraj Valley. The journey winds through beautiful mountain roads, offering glimpses of forests and traditional Himalayan villages. By afternoon, arrive at Shoja, a charming village set on a forested mountainside near the Great Himalayan National Park. On arrival, check in to your cozy mountain lodge. Later in the day, enjoy a gentle walk through the village to explore the serene surroundings and experience the local way of life.
After breakfast, drive for about 10 minutes to Jalori Pass and begin the scenic Raghupur Fort hike (approx. 3 hours return). The trail leads through lush alpine meadows to the ruins of an old fort, offering spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan ranges.
Return to Shoja in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day at leisure, enjoying the peaceful mountain surroundings.

This morning, drive to Jalori Pass (about 10 minutes) to begin the beautiful Serolsar Lake hike (approx. 4–5 hours return). The trail passes through dense oak and rhododendron forests and leads to the serene Serolsar Lake, a sacred high-altitude lake surrounded by thick forest. Return to the lodge by afternoon and relax for the evening.

After breakfast, drive for about an hour to the picturesque Tirthan Valley. Enjoy a scenic hike through the peripheral forests of the Great Himalayan National Park (2–6 hours return depending on your preference), known for its pristine landscapes and rich biodiversity. On the way back, visit the charming village of Bahu, known for its quaint temple where devotees offer items made of iron such as nails, locks, and scrap metal. Return to Shoja by evening.
After breakfast, drive to Chitkul, the last inhabited village on the Indo–Tibetan border. Stroll through the charming village and visit the beautiful temple built in traditional Kinnauri style. Continue further to Nagasthi, the last civilian-accessible border outpost. On the return journey, stop at the picturesque village of Rakcham, known for its scenic setting amidst the Baspa Valley. Spend the evening relaxing by the riverside near your lodge.

Begin the day with a visit to the charming village of Batseri, located across the river. Walk through its narrow lanes to see traditional wooden houses and the exquisite Badri Narayan Temple, offering a glimpse into the winter lifestyle of the locals. Later, drive to the hilltop village of Kalpa, which offers magnificent views of the majestic Kinner Kailash Massif. Return to Sangla by evening.

After a leisurely breakfast, check out and drive down towards the base of the Sutlej Valley at Jeori. From here, take a short detour to Sarahan to visit the ancient Bhimakali Temple, an important shrine known for its unique hill architecture. Later, continue your scenic drive towards Narkanda and onward to the orchard-clad region of Thanedar.
On arrival, check in to your charming mountain lodge set amidst apple orchards. Spend the evening at leisure, relaxing in the tranquil surroundings, perhaps enjoying a warm bonfire under the mountain sky.
Stay: Retreat Room at Banjara Orchard Retreat, Thanedar.
After breakfast, take a scenic drive (about 1 hour 30 minutes each way) to Hatu Peak, the highest point in the region at approximately 11,000 ft. From the summit, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan ranges. On the way back, visit Tani Jubbar, a small yet picturesque lake surrounded by cedar trees. Return to the lodge by afternoon and spend the rest of the day at leisure, enjoying the peaceful orchard surroundings.
Today, enjoy a pleasant hike of about 45 minutes through apple and cherry orchards to the charming village of Kotgarh, where you can visit the quaint St. Mary’s Church, which is over 150 years old. You may choose to drive back to the lodge or hike back uphill in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Later in the afternoon, take an exquisite 2–4 hour hike through the Saroga Forest, an untouched and densely wooded area known for its rare Himalayan flora.
Back at the lodge, children can enjoy time in the recreational room with indoor games and painting activities.

After a leisurely breakfast, check out and drive towards Shimla. At Dhalli, take a short detour to the peaceful hill retreat of Naldehra. On arrival, check in to your luxurious chalet set amidst cedar forests and rolling hills. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, strolling around the beautiful property and enjoying the tranquil mountain surroundings.
After breakfast, visit the scenic Naldehra Golf Course, one of the oldest and most picturesque golf courses in India. Enjoy a leisurely walk or a horse ride through the surrounding cedar forests and explore the charming village of Naldehra. Return to the chalet and spend the evening relaxing in the serene surroundings.
Today, take a short excursion to Tattapani, where you can enjoy boating on the dam along the Sutlej River while taking in the scenic mountain views. Later, continue towards Mashobra for relaxing forest walks and beautiful Himalayan vistas. Return to Naldehra by evening and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
After breakfast, check out and drive to Chandigarh Airport for your onward journey, marking the end of your memorable Himalayan holiday.
