ITINERARY SCHEDULE

Day 1 :- Arrival at Amman

Welcome to Amman. You will be greeted and assisted by a Wanderers representative. You will be transferred to the hotel thereafter in a private van. Amman, the capital of Jordan, is a fascinating city of contrasts – a unique blend of old and new, situated on a hilly area between the desert and the fertile Jordan Valley. In the commercial heart of the city, ultra-modern buildings, hotels, smart restaurants, art galleries and boutiques rub shoulders comfortably with traditional coffee shops and tiny artisans’ workshops. In the afternoon we have arranged for you to visit the Royal Automobile Museum at Amman Pulling up in front of the Royal Automobile Museum in Amman you’d be excused for thinking you were at the wrong museum – a 1947 De Havilland Dove aircraft marking the entrance rather than a car. But this is where it gets interesting – not only was the much-loved monarch a car buff, he was also a qualified pilot. You will easily become a car buff especially when the museum houses vehicles like an amphibious car that can swim, a Mercedes-Benz with gullwing doors and a 1946 Humber Super Snipe, all part of the private collection of the late King Hussein I of Jordan. Overnight at the Grand Hyatt Amman ( Grand room).
Meals included: None

Day 2 :- Amman City Sights

Begin your day with breakfast at the hotel. Head out to explore Jordan’s capital city with a full day guide. You will first visit the Citadel. Set up on the highest hill in Amman, Jebel Al Qala’a (about 850m above sea level), breath-taking ruins have been occupied since the Bronze Age. Surrounded by a 1700m-long wall, it was rebuilt many times during the Bronze and Iron Ages, as well as the Roman, Byzantine and Umayyad periods. Artefacts dating from the Bronze Age show that the hill was a fortress and/or agora (open space for commerce and politics) for a millennium. Let your inner explorer come to life as you make your way to the Jordan Museum. Housed in a grand modern building, a series of beautifully presented and informative displays tell Jordan’s historical epic from the first people through the Nabataean civilisation to the cusp of the modern era.

A tour around Amman wouldn’t be complete without heading out to the Roman amphi theatre. This magnificently restored theatre is the most impressive remnant of Roman era. Located right next to the amphi theatre, the modest folklore museum showcases a modest collection of items illustrating traditional Jordanian life. It includes a Bedouin goat-hair tent complete with tools, musical instruments such as the rababa (a one-stringed Bedouin instrument), looms, mihbash (coffee grinders), some weapons and various costumes, including traditional Circassian dress. Finally head out to Jerash, a ruined city dotted with imposing ceremonial gates, colonnaded avenues, temples and theatres all which speak of a past when this was an important imperial centre. Overnight at the Grand Hyatt Amman (Grand room).
Meals: Breakfast

Day 3 :- Amman - Iraq Al Amir Women's Cooperative Society & Local Food Experience

Today you will visit a cooperative to learn more about community tourism efforts in the area and how tourism can help! Sandwiched in between rolling hills and valleys, the village of Iraq al Amir is just 45 minutes’ drive from Amman, set in the Wadi Seer area. Iraq al Amir (also spelled as Iraq el Amir and Iraq Alameer) is a perfect example of beautiful rural Jordan that is home to lush green slopes and fig-trees a plenty: a welcome change from the sandy desert of southern and eastern Jordan. The Iraq al Amir Womens’ Cooperative. Despite initial funding challenges, over 150 women from the neighbouring villages of Wadi Seer have now been trained in different handicraft skills. The Iraq al Amir Womens’ Society runs the cooperative and have created many employment opportunities for local ladies which would otherwise simply not be available. In rural Jordan, traditional society where women stay at home is the norm, and transport between villages is problematic; thereby putting very real limitations on potential careers and development outside the home for women in such areas.

Today, the cooperative serves many vital functions in the community. The ladies at Iraq al Amir offer cooking classes, traditional lunches, pottery, soap, paper and fabric-making workshops for tourists, in an effort to build a connection with visitors from the outside world, allowing them a unique glance into village life in this part of Jordan. Return and visit to Souq al Sukar Local market with a guide. The Mamlouks started processing sugar cane in mills throughout the valley, and between the 13th and 16th centuries the whole valley was a major global production site for sugar. This was one source of the “Damascus Sweets” industry that has given the world baklawa and kanafeh. It is also the source of candied fruits and sugar-coated nuts “Jordan almonds”, which became popularly linked with weddings around the Mediterranean. Enter the Souq and enjoy the hubbub created by the merchants as they call out what is for sale from a wide range of fruit and vegetables, to nuts, pasta and spices. The numerous shops will excite your senses, selling nuts, spices and dried herbs all beautifully displayed and presented for purchase by individual weight.

The day is not over yet. At 5 pm you will dropped to Beit Sitti. Translating to “my grandmother’s house” in Arabic, Beit Sitti was opened by sisters Dina, Tania, and Maria Haddad in Amman after fallingin love with Middle Eastern cooking in their grandmother’s kitchen. “When my grandmother passed away, we wanted to keep her memory alive by opening her house to guests,” says Maria.

“We teach others the dishes she used to teach us.” Through the course of a day, guests learn how to make popular dishes like maaloubeh—traditionally prepared by farmers using chicken aubergine and cauliflower layered on a bed of rice pilaf; the final product is flipped upside down to resemble a cake. We do hope through the food, you will connect more deeply with Jordan. Overnight at the Grand Hyatt Amman (Grand room) Meals: Breakfast.

Day 4 :- Amman to Petra

Breakfast at the hotel. You will check out and head out to visit Madaba. We have arranged for a tour with a National Guide for Madaba, Mount Nebo and Ul ar Rasas to give you the in depth history of the region. The amiable market town of Madaba is best known for a collection of Byzantine-era mosaics. Known as the “City of Mosaics” Madaba is the cultural epicentre for Byzantine and Umayyad inspired mosaics. The most famous of these is the map on the floor of St George’s Church, but there are many others in different parts of the town, several of them even more complete and vibrantly colourful. Next make your way to Mt Nebo, where Moses is said to have seen the Promised Land, a land he was himself forbidden to enter. Visit Um Al Rasas, a largely unexcavated archaeological site that has been inhabited since the Iron Age. You will then continue to Petra. Check in at the hotel. At night an incomparable experience awaits you. It starts by walking the entire Siq to the Treasury, lit with over 1,500 candles. Illuminated by nothing but paper lanterns and let yourself free into the dark and mysterious silence before enjoying a peaceful folk show at the Petra at Night walk. This is a silent tour.(The Petra by Night is conducted only on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday). Your evening starts with a stroll down the Siq in complete silence to take in the incredible sights around you. Once you arrive at the Treasury, known as Al Khazneh, you will be requested to be seated and listen to the traditional Jordanian music played by the local Bedouins. It will make you excited, just when you think the music is complete, and where you see a musician with his flute appears out of the dark Treasury, making his way through the candles to stand before the crowds. The night is complete with the traditional Bedouin mint tea, to a nice warm up to cherish the experience you had with this great event Petra By Night! Pick up at 2030 hrs and return at 2230 hrs. Overnight at Marriott Petra Hotel (Superior room)
Meals: Breakfast

Day 5 :- Discover Petra

Breakfast at the hotel. Start the visit of Petra city with a guide. The spectacular sandstone city of Petra was built in the 3rd century BC by the Nabataeans, who carved palaces, temples, tombs, storerooms and stables from the soft stone cliffs. Today it is a World Heritage Site that needs little introduction; suffice to say, no visit to Jordan is complete without at least a day spent exploring the remarkable Ancient City. The tour starts from entrance up to Qasr el Bent (around 4-5 hours). You then proceed from the entrance to Al-Siq (translated: the shaft) to the treasury then Qasr el Bent. There are carriage rides available at direct payment of USD 40 per person. 2 in a carriage can be accommodated and you have
to pay for the guides carriage separately. Overnight at Marriott Petra Hotel. (Superior room).
Meals: Breakfast.

Day 6 :- Wadi Rum

Begin your day with breakfast at the hotel. You will then check out of the hotel make your way to Wadi Rum. Explore the magnificent desert on your Bedouin jeep tour conducted in Toyota 4 by 4 pick ups. Wadi Rum is everything you’d expect of a quintessential desert. It is extreme in summer.

In winter it is violent and moody as the sun slices through chiselled siqs (canyons) at dawn or melts the division between rock and sand at dusk; it is exacting on the Bedouin who live in it and vengeful on those who ignore its dangers. Hop on a jeep and take in the scenic sights Wadi Rum boasts of as you drive to many of its most attracting sights. You will also explore the desert on camel back and on a quad bike. Post the above adventures you will head to your unique accommodation. Wadi Rum has opened a dramatic Martian Experience in the heart of this wilderness, which makes you feel as though they have landed on the Red Planet. Your accommodation today is a highlight of the trip. The Martian Domes are space ship-like tents with glass walls that provide visitors with panoramic views of the desert and surrounding mountains. Late evening experience “A Sky Full of Stars” as we take you stargazing in Wadi Rum. Nicknamed “The Valley of the Moon”, Wadi Rum is one of the most special and favorite places for stargazers around the world. We take you on a guided tour to witness a magnificent celestial show across the clear skies of Wadi Rum. Overnight at Sun City Camp Martian tents.
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner.

Day 7 :- Wadi Rum to Aqaba

: You will check out of the tents after breakfast and make your way to Aqaba. Aqaba is a beach town with Jordanian appeal. Equipped with the local watering holes and water sports. Day 8 :- Aqaba to Dead Sea

: You will check out of the hotel after breakfast. Head to the famous Dead Sea. At 431m below sea level – the lowest point on earth – the Dead Sea is a body of intense blue water. Time for you to pose like a star fish in the dead sea. Slop the sludgy black mineral-rich mud all over your body and let it dry and crackle up like elephant skin. Then run, in flip-flops (the salt-baked earth is scorching), holding your nose (sulphur levels are through the roof) head-first into the water to wash it off. Post the dip you can head to the nearby shops for some dead sea spa products. Overnight stay at Kempinski Ishtar (Hotel Superior room main building).

Weather Info

Spring and autumn are the best times to travel to Jordan as the days are warm, with temperatures into the high 20°Cs, but nights are cool. Exploring the sites in this climate is pleasant, it is not too hot for hiking in the nature reserves and both flora and fauna are abundant. The summer months here are very hot, with temperatures reaching up into the 40°Cs. However, if you are not adversely affected by heat it is still worth considering a trip at this time as you will have sites like Petra almost to yourself. In the winter months, Jordan often experiences snow and the nights get cold; especially in the desert regions. Winter is also when the majority of the rain falls, but showers tend to be short and sharp.
