For long, travellers have dreamt of exploring the majestic beauty of the high Himalayas wrapped most of the year under a veil of snow. The window of opportunity opens between the summer months of May and September when the snow on the passes melt allowing the traveller to venture high and deep in these mountains. But infrastructure remains a problem. Decent accommodation is hard to come by and mostly small guest houses and lodges, with poor facilities, operate. Further, bookings have to be done well in advance, which can often kill the freedom associated with these heights. So, we introduced our ' Mobile Camping' trips which sought to address these issues. Wanderers, like us, can now enjoy freedom like never before. How it works: While one vehicle travels with the client, the second vehicle carries tents with cots and mattresses, dining tents with tables and chairs, a toilet tent with a chemical toilet, kitchen crew and staff to help in setting up the tents, mineral water etc. Only the starting point and date and the end point and date are fixed. You can either spend all your days camping in a meadow next to a gurgling stream or you may decide to change campsite every day. We need just one hour to set the camp up. So, when you spot a campsite of your dreams, just stop the vehicle and point to the place and go for a walk. When you return an hour later, the tents are up and your soup is ready! Currently, The Wanderers operate these mobile camping trips in Himachal Pradesh but soon plan to extend the same to other Himalayan states like Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Ladakh.
